The circular slide rule encircling its dial enabled pilots to perform flight calculations such as fuel consumption, speed and distance directly on their wrists, and the Navitimer soon became the official watch of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). Measuring 43 mm in diameter and 13.69 mm in thickness, the stainless steel case is crowned by a bidirectional rotating bezel with circular slide rule. Beneath a cambered sapphire crystal glareproofed on both sides, the ice-blue dial reflects the Navitimer’s characteristic appearance with its three-counter chronograph layout. At the heart of the watch beats Breitling’s flagship manufacture calibre, the B01. This automatic column-wheel chronograph movement is fitted with 47 jewels and operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour, timing to a quarter of a second with 30-minute and 12-hour counters. Its power reserve of approximately 70 hours keeps the watch running without pause even if it is taken off for a few days.
