The Bovet Fleurier Orbis Mundi takes its name from the Latin for “the world” and pays tribute to the journeys of the Maison’s founder, Edouard Bovet, which carried the brand across the globe. Within its 42 mm titanium case, an aventurine world-time disc displays the time in 24 cities at a single glance, with every setting made through the crown alone. Inside, the hand-wound 15BM01HU manufacture calibre delivers a seven-day power reserve from a single barrel. The Bovet Fleurier Orbis Mundi came to life on the occasion of the Maison’s 200th anniversary. Taking its name from the Latin for “the world,” the watch stands as a tribute to the journeys of founder Edouard Bovet, which carried the brand from Europe to the Far East. Measuring 42 mm in diameter and 11.25 mm in thickness, the titanium Fleurier case carries its crown and bow at 12 o’clock, in keeping with the pocket-watch tradition, while the sapphire cabochon on the crown lends the case a subtle jeweller’s touch.
On the upper part of the dial, an aventurine world-time disc bears the names of 24 cities and a 24-hour scale. Local time and world time come together on the same dial, and every setting is made through the crown alone; depending on the selected city, the time in the other 23 cities can be read at a single glance. A hand-engraved lotus motif, white Roman numerals and a three-armed seconds hand sweeping across an aventurine arc lend the dial a depth unique to Bovet, while the indicator at 3 o’clock tracks the power reserve.
At the heart of the watch beats the hand-wound 15BM01HU manufacture calibre, composed of 249 components. Beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour, the movement draws a seven-day power reserve from a single barrel and can be admired in every detail through the sapphire caseback. It is a timepiece in which every detail rests on a decision, and every second on a legacy.
