Seamaster Railmaster

Introduced in 1957, the first Railmaster was designed for railway workers and technicians who worked close to magnetic fields. Its purpose was to maintain its precision even in demanding conditions. Today’s Railmaster preserves this functional heritage and the familiar look of the original model, while updating it for the present day in colour and precision. Measuring 38 mm in diameter and 12.36 mm in thickness, the brushed and polished stainless steel case provides water resistance to 150 metres with its symmetrical design and screw-in crown. Beneath a domed sapphire crystal glareproofed on both sides lies a grey gradient dial that deepens to black from the centre towards the edges. The large numerals and hour markers on the dial are filled with white Super-LumiNova. This ensures the watch can be read easily, even in the dark and at a glance. Without a date window, the dial reflects the Railmaster’s clean and functional design philosophy in its purest form.

Through the transparent caseback, Omega’s automatic calibre 8806 is on display, featuring a Co-Axial escapement and a silicon balance spring. The movement’s rhodium-plated rotor and bridges are decorated with Geneva waves in arabesque. Certified as a Master Chronometer by METAS, the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology, the movement offers a 55-hour power reserve. With magnetic resistance up to 15,000 gauss, it carries the first Railmaster’s antimagnetic mission much further. The steel bracelet with brushed and polished links and the butterfly clasp with comfort setting make the watch easy to wear every day.
